January 30, 2026 -- Proverbs 30:5 -- Every word of God proves true

People loved by the Father, in the Spirit's power: Sh'ma ~ hear and obey Jesus!

Every word of God proves true;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Proverbs 30:5 ESV
 
What is God like? He is truth. This is a challenging statement for humans. “Science” proves it is a catchphrase that is often employed to convince people. Yet science is often wrong. I well remember in my open-pod concept grades one to four classroom, when two men explained to all the students the great benefits of plastic bags. They said plastic would replace paper bags in stores. These bags would save the trees. Science is proving to be so helpful to the environment. Yeah, right (sarcasm here). Then it was global warming. Science proves it. Now it is climate change (as if the climate never changed in the past). These same ‘scientists’ will on the one hand speak of ice ages past and now in hushed, worried tones, speak of climate change.
 
How refreshing, how glorious, that every word of God proves true. What He has said, He will do. As you read the Old Testament, you can see the promises of God pile up. His promises to Abraham and Sarah. Proved true. His promises to deliver Israel from Egypt. Proved true. His judgments, should Israel sin and turn aside from the LORD, proved true.
 
Jesus, Who is the embodiment of so many of the Father’s promises in the Old Testament, declared, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6a). Jesus Himself is the evidence that every word of God proves true. Jesus, as He spoke, performed miracles, suffered, died, and rose from the dead, at every step proved the words of God true. As He did all what He did on earth, He proved He is fully human and fully God. He is completely reliable.
 
I love how God’s truthfulness is linked to the fact that He is a shield for His people. When the lies of this world are aimed at you, pummeling against you again and again, the truth of God is your shield. His Spirit, living in you, proves the word of God true and exposes the lies of this world. In fact, when His words prove true in your life, and expose the inconsistencies in your own life and the intermittent obedience you’ve offered Him, His Spirit is a shield against the lies of the Devil. The Devil would whisper to you, “You’ve been so faithless, so often, how could God love you?” The word of God proves true: He Who loved you, will love you to the end!
 
When you are filled with doubts, hold-out the promises of God. Every word of God proves true. He Who loved you from before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4-5); He demonstrated His on-going love through the reconciling blood of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:8); and He proves His love by giving to you the Holy Spirit Who is the deposit guaranteeing your eternal inheritance (Ephesians 1:13-14). The more you read, the more you realize every word of God proves true.
 
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. May our lives and our witness to the truth of Your word bring glory to Your Name and draw in many sons and daughters to glory. Thank You for the Holy Spirit, Who binds us close so that we will overcome our waywardness, our apprehensions, and our defiant inclinations to believe the lies of this world. What immeasurable greatness of power You work in us who believe which transforms us from death to life, which removes doubt and replaces it with confident hope, which removes our spiritual blindness and gives to our eyes the light of life. Amen.
