January 1, 2022 -- John 8:12 -- Worship Jesus, the Light of the World!

People loved by the Father, by the Spirit's power: Sh'ma ~ hear and obey Jesus!

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12 ESV

Around Christmas many people put up colored lights to light up porches and lawns. Christmas trees are decorated with lights. Candles are lit in anticipation of Christmas. Why? For me the explanation is this: Jesus is the Light of the World. As we enter into this New Year, it is wise for up to consider Jesus as the Light of the World. It is an expression that can bless us this year and through-out all of life!

He is the Light of the World and He is our Salvation! Psalm 27:1

He is the Light of the World Who dispels the darkness of sin and doubt and shame.

He is the Light of the World, the True Light (John 1:9). There are many false prophets, many who claim this about the world or seek to explain but who do so with no reference to the Living God. Such false witnesses are conjurers of darkness. Christ Jesus is the True Light that gives life.

Jesus is the Light of the World Who gives life. In Jesus our sins are forgiven. In Jesus Christ the enemy is thrown down and humiliated because in Christ we are taken from the enemy’s kingdom of darkness and brought into the Kingdom of Light. The Devil is defeated. Jesus gives life, the fullness of the fruit of the Spirit is ours in Christ Jesus.

Jesus the Light of the World, in Whom we have access to our Father (Ephesians 2:18)!

Spirit of the Living God, illuminate our lives in Jesus Christ, so that we will live in True Light that gives life. Spirit of the Truth, by the mighty work of Jesus, dispel the works of darkness that would hold us tightly and breaking this stronghold bring us into ever greater light, life and joy. Spirit of God, in the Name of Jesus, the Light of the World, bring us into an ever deeper relationship of wonder and praise, obedience and worship before our Father in heaven. Amen.
