June 7, 2018 - - Isaiah 46:8-9 "Do you leak?"
/Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Exodus 20:8
Remember this, fix it in mind,
take it to heart you rebels.
Remember the former things, those of long ago;
I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me. Isaiah 46:8-9
But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you. John 16:4
You will find this command, "Remember!", all through the Bible. Why does God place such an emphasis on remembering? Why do preachers repeat the story of Jesus and His love over and over again?
Listen to this great explanation from Thabiti Anyabwile, it is from his main session talk at the 2018 T4G Conference:
Christians leak.
We are like those old Saturday morning cartoon characters.
When one is shot full of holes and he tries to drink water, it leaks out of him through all those holes.
Pastors, repeat the truths of the Bible because
your people leak!
Who is a God like You, O LORD?! You made us, knitting us together in the womb. You remember our frame and our weakness, our proclivity to sin. By Your Holy Spirit cause us to remember Jesus Christ, our Saviour and King. By this same Spirit of Power cleanse us from our sins and help us, every moment of every day, to remember to walk in His will and in His way. Amen.
