September 28, 2017 - - John 14:25-27 The Peace of Christ
/“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
John 14:25-27 NKJV
Jesus, speaking to His disciples just before His betrayal and crucifixion, set His peace on them. When He rose from the dead He appeared to His disciples and confirmed His peace (John 20:19,20) even as He showed them the nail prints and His wounded side.
Christ's peace is not given so that we may avoid trouble and controversy, His peace is given as we walk the way of suffering for His Name's sake. In order that we may endure what is too much for us to endure on our own, He has given us the Holy Spirit, Who guards us in Christ and keeps us in the will of our Father in heaven.
Whatever it is that I shall face in this day, whatever joys or trials, Jesus my King, thank You for the gift of Your peace. Thank You for the sure confidence that Your will triumphs no matter my circumstances. Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, the deposit guaranteeing this peace and victory in Jesus Christ, which is all to the glory of our Father in Heaven. Amen.
